Welcome to Health Psychology UAE. I am a consultant Health Psychologist in Dubai, and I am registered in New Zealand
and licensed by the Department of Health and Medical Services in Dubai. I arrived here in 2006 after completing an
Honorary Research Fellowship at the University of Auckland (NZ). I came here first and foremost because I saw a great need for psychological support services in the health and medical community, and I am keen to support and educate the community in any way possible.

I consult to hospitals in the region, have taught Psychology and Health Psychology at one of the major universities, and I
write regular contributions on Health Psychology related topics for some of the leading editorials. I have presented at numerous seminars and conferences, and am a regular guest on both television and radio.

Health psychologists are familiar with a wide range of psychological problems and extraneous circumstances that can
affect a healthy individual in the short and long term (e.g., stress, anxiety, depression; see 'Clinical Work' for more details), as well as major diseases and medical conditions (e.g., cancer, diabetes, asthma and respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, and chronic pain), and the psychological outcomes and management of these conditions.

Listen to me on Radio 2 (99.3 / 106 FM) every Wednesday morning on 'Lifestyle' with Acalia from 11am-12pm.
We discuss the psychological aspects behind all current health and lifestyle issues- and how to cope.

Last month we looked at breast cancer, and the stress behind the credit crunch. This month we will look at diabetes, helping children manage conflict or bullying (especially if they are ill), and melanoma (skin cancer).
